Welcome New Council.

To the new Council.

Welcome.
We live in one of Gods wonders, yet we are where we are.
But in looking back at the reason why, I can only point to one thing, that has us where we are, with all we have going for us.
Ineffective government, that operates with tunnel vision, living for today's wants and forgoing the future needs.
Now it is time for you the government to step up to the plate.
The days of Council meeting 2 times a month, for 3 to 4 hours a meeting and acting like it is such an inconvenience that they have to be there, must end.
The days of agenda items backing up and taking forever if even being discussed, why the house of cards falls to the ground, must end.
I hope you were awake and realized, before you ran for these positions, that you are running a City.
Every department and enterprise business of this City is a business in itself.
Council is the CEO of each of these governmental entities.
That is a full time job for each of you.
You need to realize that this is not a prestige award.
If it is prestige you came for, that you will have to earn.
To earn that, is going to take a lot of hard work.
This is a full time job.
Do not think other wise.
So if you are not up to the task tell council now so they can fill your position.
That in this job, accountability is demanded of you.
That in this job, the safety and welfare of every citizen is in your hands.
That every decision you make, will have an effect on every one of us.
That every decision you make, must be legal and in the best interest of the city.
That in the end and when all is said and done, that the reflection that you see in the mirror, will be the reflection of whether you succeeded or failed.
That that reflection starts now.
That that reflection, is only up to you, in how it all turns out.
And that reflection starts now?
Now you volunteered for this job, now go and take the bull by the horns and do it.
Yes you have been left with a major handicap right out of the gate.
Keep in mind that the problems you will be facing were not all the creation of this previous council or administrator.
These problems began decades before and grew to the point that they did.
Yes the previous Council had the opportunity to correct these problems.
But the new faces on this council should realize, that had they succeeded you would not be seated in their seats.
Now the reflections that those previous councilors see is of themselves in the mirror, is of their own doing's, due to their bad choices.
Now you will be faced with those very choices they faced.

Now I have exposed the worst of the worst on these blogs.
I would like nothing better than to turn this blog from the negativity it began with and turn it into a positive for the world to see.
But that is not in my hands.
That Council is in your hands.

Now the time to start work is now.
So go and make me proud of each and everyone of you.
Go and make each of us proud to live in this beautiful city with such wasted potential to date.
Stop making me have to defend this City when talking to outsiders.
You know the oh! you live in Cascade Locks!!! Neighbor's of ours.
We are better than them now go out and prove it!!!
For all of us.

Cody, I take small issue with you last comment. We are not better that them. We are no better or worse than anyone else. Part of the problem is that very idea we exist separately from that which surrounds us. How do you define a neighbor? How far away?

Well said Cody,
and Wren i think Cody is more implying that we are better than everyone else makes us out to be, and by neighbor's you can go anywhere outside of Cascade Locks and they look at you with pity or sorrow when u mention you live here, it should not be that way, we should all be proud to live here, but with the way our city was heading it was getting harder and harder to be proud. Hell we don't even have a high school to stand behind anymore. I completely agree Cody. Who i voted for won, now i just hope they can pull us out of the stinky rotten mess the last council pulled the whole city into.
