Council you may want to enter into discussion here?

April 18, 2011, The Hood River County Commissioners had discussion of a Fun tax.
This discussion went from a fun tax on ski lift tickets, to a county wide food and beverage industry tax.
I heard of this in an article ran by the Hood River News, followed by the video the Hood River News, uploaded to youtube.
I have posted this video on this blog.
This entire mess stinks to me and I feel that Cascade Locks should be left out of this.
I feel that any public body having the right to tax our food and beverage industry, could only be brought forth by my City Council, to support services within the boundaries of our City and only on approval by a vote of the people.
Does this concern you as much as it does me?

Wake up.

While the council meeting for April 11, 2011, is going through the process needed to be put on line and the time it takes, I thought I might add something.
I witnessed a public outrage which offended me.
Now I hear the very same rumors you all do.
But nowhere on the record is there proof of what I keep hearing.
Now this council has made it clear if only some of the citizens would listen.
This city is in a financial meltdown.
So, some of you are all running around in an uproar, pointing fingers at this council.
Well I hate to tell that minority, but if you want to start pointing fingers, you may wish to start with the last council and administrator and go back decades in time.
I can go back in the record and it is clear as day.
So, why don’t all those questioning, go and look for yourselves.
This council only has one choice being, to get this city into compliance with the law.
And this is what you are seeing.
Any council worth its weight in gold demands accountability in its staff.
That is what you are seeing.
But when I witness a citizen, use the honor of being a vet to attack a person’s very constitutional rights; it seems that vet forgot the oath of office he took, being to protect that very constitution, for that vets personal political agenda.
So I understand this city is not going to know what, if anything they can do until the budget process gets rolling along.
That is where it is all going to happen and facts will be the deciding factor.
It is all going to boil down to what we can afford, not what we want any longer.

April 4, 2011, Tourism Meeting.

In response, to the requests, to put tourism meetings on the blog;I had fully intended to do this.
It did not appear on the community calendar on the city web site.
The agenda also was not listed on the city web site.
Therefore I did not know to capture this video for this meeting and had previous commitments at that time.
Yet I did receive a phone call telling me of this meeting and started capturing this around 8:40 when I arrived home.
That said if the city still tapes these meetings and I can have access to it, I can hook up my equipment to transfer any VHS, DVD or video camera copy.
But for now I have converted and uploaded what I was able to capture.
If anyone can get a copy drop it off at city hall and let me know.
I can have it back at city hall within a day.
Now, if I can help the tourism committee in any other way, by converting video for that committee for the web site, or any other tourism need just let me know.
Video would be a great tool in this committee’s arsenal to promote this city.
As always you can contact me via email Contact link or by phone at (541) 490-9273.
