April 4, 2011, Tourism Meeting.

In response, to the requests, to put tourism meetings on the blog;I had fully intended to do this.
It did not appear on the community calendar on the city web site.
The agenda also was not listed on the city web site.
Therefore I did not know to capture this video for this meeting and had previous commitments at that time.
Yet I did receive a phone call telling me of this meeting and started capturing this around 8:40 when I arrived home.
That said if the city still tapes these meetings and I can have access to it, I can hook up my equipment to transfer any VHS, DVD or video camera copy.
But for now I have converted and uploaded what I was able to capture.
If anyone can get a copy drop it off at city hall and let me know.
I can have it back at city hall within a day.
Now, if I can help the tourism committee in any other way, by converting video for that committee for the web site, or any other tourism need just let me know.
Video would be a great tool in this committee’s arsenal to promote this city.
As always you can contact me via email Contact link or by phone at (541) 490-9273.

One question - why is the Tourism Committee giving money to the sailors when I saw in the newspaper they are asking people to put them up for free this summer? I thought the point was to get people to come to town to stay in MOTELS and help the City and committee not stay in PEOPLE's HOMES. Explain this one to me.

Dear Perp:

Off the top of my head, I would ask which sailors?

The College kids who come here to sail may not have a lot of money to spend right now but will eventually come back. They also would use some other services like gas or food or beer. It's not all about the motels, you know.

The MOTH sailors have all the bucks in the world to spend. But they won't be back for awhile.

The event I read about in the paper and then looked up on the CGRA website didn't sound like a college kid race. It's in the middle of July.
