Clips of December 27, 2010, Council Meeting, concerning paid resignation.
Most of Council had no knowledge of negotiations, which required a quorum of the council.
Was not made an agenda item. This violated public notification laws.
This took away the citizens and some on councils right to be a part of government.
Can you say deprivation of rights under color of law and color of office.
Just look it up.

The nature of the encroachment upon American constitution is such, as to grow every day more and more encroaching. Like a cancer; it eats faster and faster every hour. The revenue creates pensioners, and the pensioners urge for more revenue. The seekers more numerous and more corrupt, and every day increases the circles of their dependents and vanity, luxury, foppery, selfishness, meanness, and downright venality swallow up the whole of society. Cody, do you have a law degree?
Thank you for posting the meeting on youtube. It is a service that the City ought to be performing for us. Not that many people get channel 23 or can attend and must rely on our neighbors to tell us what is going on. This is much better.
YES! Thank you so much for doing this. Now we can watch it on TV with our ROKU player!!! Yeah! :-)
Thanks for putting these on YouTube Cody! I dropped the city owned cable several years ago due to poor signal quality. I understand that only about half the homes in CL still use City Cable. If it wasnt for our folks on fixed incomes, I would advocate the complete shut down of our City Cable. It doesnt pencil out for the City to be in the cable business. Might be something we could work out with Dish Network or Direct TV to provide signal city wide? Use the money we spend on code enforcement and fix our cable system. Code enforcement needs to go back to being a function of the City Manager.
It was nice to watch a Council meeting where public comment was valued. Although sometimes our political views differ, I thought Gary brought up some very good questions. Hard questions yes, but they were asked and answered in a civilized manner. Things are looking up!
Great work Cody that is awesome. I have city cable, but most people i know do not, but I cannot have a dish at my apartment. I must rely on city cable, which is provided by dish network, and i pay the same amount dish subscribers do, but i only get 25 channels one of those is channel 23, but i only watch it for the council meetings. This town is in the cable business because they get to charge such a lofty amount for such low signal, quality, service, and channels. They pay a bulk fee for the service and could get as many channels as every other dish network subscriber that gets service in this town, but they refuse. They also refuse to lower the rates even though they are ridiculous. You know Carson, Washington gets 40 more channels than we do? And its 15 dollars cheaper. Don't even get me started on internet, which I use to watch TV because i don't get any of the channels i like here.
Thank You Cody for posting this online so i can watch it on my own time since i work during much of the council meetings. Much Appreciated.... As is your blog.
And i completely agree with Mr. Walker things are looking up and it hasn't even been a month. Shows what a nice little shake down can do i guess.

And whoever asked if Cody has a law degree.... I can't say personally because i don't know his schooling background, but I have asked him more than several law degree type questions and he has always been more than capable of producing a response that exceeds the required expectations. (When I was a teenager I used to ask him questions from the New York State Bar Exam, because it is considered one of the toughest in the country, and like I previously stated, he always excelled at every question.)

Section 11. COMPENSATION OF COUNCIL AND OFFICIALS. The compensation for each official shall be set by the Council. Members of the Council shall not receive compensation unless five lay members of the Budget Committee approve, by vote, such compensation.
Can anyone tell me what the compensation is for the city council? i know the Mayor's salary through public record, but could not get this from the city recorder. anyone?
Jeremy E.
They are not paid. They can be reimbursed for expenses. They are included in the consent agenda and the payee must announce that they are not voting on just that part.
I am uploading videos to begin at the December 27, 2010, meeting of the council.
These long videos tie up my P.C. for over a day each.
Then they go through a copyright check which takes another day to put them in a video window on the blog.
In fairness to everyone the December 27th meeting needs to be a part of this page.
This a a very large video and will take around 2 days to upload.
As uploading these large files takes over my internet and I want to get caught up, I will respond after this is done.
I also put the click link up before the copyright check to get them on line as quickly as I can.
I also left the option to click on the video to take you to my youtube page, so you can view the videos in full screen.

Every one is welcome.
Jeremy
Council or the Mayor are not paid.
That is a charter provision which can be enacted if we grew and financially could afford it.
Also have you thought about being on the charter committee?
That process is beginning and we need involvement from the younger class of citizens.
The charter is our constitution.
This is where we give government it's powers.
So pass the word.
Cody
CODY - do you have a law degree? Please answer the question.
Sounds like Jeremy is a younger person. That is exactly what City govt needs. The election of Eva Zerfing to the council was a good start to engage young families into decission making. I would agree with Cody that if your willing to Jeremy, get on the Charter Committee or any other committees. If you cant fit that in to your schedule, attend the Charter or Council meetings and let people know your concerns.

It seems to me, that you want your question answered.
"do you have a law degree?"
"CODY - do you have a law degree? Please answer the question."
I am granted a right by the constitution and statute of law.
That said, I do not need that title of nobility, to exercise that right.
Nor does any citizen of our country.
That answer does not imply that I do not hold the higher education standards, along with the fitness and competence standards, to hold that nobility title.
It's apparent that your asking me this question, means you know nothing about me.
Advantage me.
So now I have a question for you.
Have I been wrong yet, Ex mea sententia, of the law?
De iure as I read it, along with the case law, I have been right on the money.
Enough so I might add, that higher powers agreed with me and now control the outcome.
