What Is Left To Say?

It has been quite a contentious journey the last couple of years here in Cascade Locks.

The paths we take now, what we look back on, and what we look forward to is up to us.
We must determine our destination, what kind of road we will take to get there, and how happy we are when we get there.

IMHO;
The improperly appointed illegally refuse to participate in an election, then resign over not being allowed to decide how to properly appoint? OMG, only in Cascade Locks!!

I'm sure by the next council meeting the story will be that Randy, Brad and Mark were run out of town on rails, right behind Seeger, Carson, Pricher, and Masters.(well okay maybe Masters, he failed to receive the necessary number of votes for his ego to allow allow him to live among us).
Your RESIGNATIONS have your signatures attached to them you stupid ----s. Are you claiming forgery as well?

It's nearly as stupid as Brad complaining about "contentious" politics, apparently failing realizing his behavior is "all on tape".

Oh, and if by "small accomplishments" Brad Lorang means more unsanctioned purchases of "art" from his business, then yes, I'm sure that all the attention that he drew to himself through his actions over the past year and a half has made that more difficult. When it's (finally) not personally profitable for Brad Lorang to be in an elected position, he will resign. Mark my words (lol).

I believe the next council needs to write an apology letter to the all of citizens of Cascade Locks,OR for the actions of Brad Lorang, Gail Lewis, Jeff Helfrich, Mark Storm, Randy Holmstrom and Lance Masters. Maybe then us simple citizens can be confident enough in OUR government to return to the menial task of earning tax dollars to donate to OUR city.

These buffoons and their friends haven't managed to hold power in Cascade Locks for nearly a decade and pillage our city into near insolvency by being conscientious, honest, hard working citizens. Mark my words, let your guard down one minute and the next "Cascade Locks Fire Not In Service" treachery (courtesy of the Hood River News) will be there to stab you in the back.

Do you require an honest government ?
Do you require a government that respects the citizens ?
Do you require a government that respects the limits placed on it by the city charter ?
Do you require that people employed by your government be honest, diligent and respectful of your elected representatives ?

Then you too, must be a Darksider....

more to come

Darksider Diary

More to come is right and it did not take long.
Look at the agendas on line.
Here we go again!!!

How ironic is it that now it seems I have to fight for the rights of those that took them away with to begin with.
Will this ever end?

Hypocrisy is a strong word, one that evokes indignation and strong emotion.
Hypocrisy is also a boomerang word, it cuts equally in both directions.
Some would claim that following the same path Lance Masters, Randy Holmstrom, Brad Lorang and Jeff Helfrich (*) spent so many of our tax dollars defending/justifying as right would be hypocrisy because someone said it was wrong.
Sorry, but that's just plain stupid! Unless of course the afore mentioned are willing to admit they were intentionally screwing us all in the first place.

Please bear with us, we are running out of application forms and tshirts due to the extreme demand.

Seriously, this would be a great time to go down to only four councilors and the mayor.

Besides, I'm pretty sure we are running out of electable candidates. Emphasis on electable. Are we not tired of this shit?

Between the City and the Port, we would only have ten overblown egos trying to force us into bankruptcy and arguing day and night.

To Misanthrope,

I for one am tired of this sh-- too. We have wasted so much time cleaning out the bad politicians we don't have any energy left. Or maybe it's the flu I am getting over.
I have been thinking about the different opinions about whether to appoint or elect to fill our vacancies. Some say our Charter shouldn't be followed because it can be interpreted more than one way. It could be used for good and evil, as we have seen. It is like those who want to punish the gun for the crime of murder. If the gun is being used for good then all is well, but if it ever got into the wrong hands, beware. Just like our Charter. It is just my way of looking at it.

I might add that I feel our Charter is in good hands.

I would like to point to the behavior of the current council. If there ever was political "olive branch" offered in the history of this city, this has been it.
In my opinion, offering Jeff Helfrich and Ralf Hesgard a seat on the council is an abomination, but I'm willing to accept it in the name of political expediency.
I'm certain that the lunatic fringe that Jeff and Ralf follow/represent will leverage these seats to their maximum advantage, claiming their appointments were the right thing to do and that they would have done the same, regardless of what history shows.
The "reporting" by Kirby isn't lost on me either. When Lance and Eva used deceit to bully their co-conspirators into office, it was reported as a "Breath of Fresh Air" and great accomplishments were sure to follow....On the other hand, Tom's deliberate attempt to burying the political hatchet somehow goes unacknowledged??

Go figure Cascade Locks.

Related, I was told that Kirby left Tom's first meeting as mayor before everyone had had an opportunity to speak, yet those who spoke after Kirby left were quoted by Kirby in his story without attribution to a source. Is it ethical for a "journalist" to report something as first hand that they didn't actually witness?

Hey Cody, it is way past time to change this post to a new one and engender some discussions like:

Why the bloody hell don't those flighty girls up in City Hall pick one fricking format for the city website and keep to it?
