I cannot wait until November to flush this embarrassment to our city down the toilet where they belong.
When the department shuts down because of financial management incompetence, by all means let’s apologize to the problem that caused it all.
When a department head can change public records and turn the facts into a lie by all means let’s apologize to the criminal.
You all knew their agenda and they now prove how low they can be.

I love the way the Hood River Enquirer published the whining, obsequious apologetic letter in Saturday's edition. Coincidentally, before the Council approved it and before the citizens see it. So unless you have the means to download and read the Council packets off of the city website, you had no idea this was coming and no chance to let your elected (whoops, gurgle, snort!!!!) SELECTED representatives know how you felt about the fawning, unctuous wording.
Way to go, nice kick the servants moment. Who was the arrogant, presumptuous daddy-knows-best type was it this time?? Once again, let's use the Kirby connection to insult the town, that man deserves his name, he sucks up all the dirt around here, doesn't he?

Does anyone remember Tina saying that the fire department was actually making a profit? It was either at council or the five alarmers meeting. I can't wait for her to clear up the matter at budget. If it's really making a profit I say let's hire a dozen fire/ambulance employees. The sooner the better.

Yes, Kirby really is this stupid:

Poor Kirby, just trying to sell papers and influence city politics with both misinformation and censoring any comments you try to place on articles. Dirtbag is right!
In my opinion:
Kirby Nuemann-Rea and Jeff Pritcher appear to be "brothers by another mother". Neither seem burdened with the bothersome integrity gene. Though they both spin yarns of their personal greatness and power, neither have accomplished much.
Jeff, for all his bragging, hasn't accomplished anything.
He managed a $1.2M building project, he managed it into a $1.9M project. $700,000 over budget isn't really something to brag about.
Jeff applied for a fire engine grant to FEMA. The application was filled with "facts" Kirby would be proud of, like Cascade Locks has 2 fire stations and various other fabrications. This grant added another $100,000 of debt to the $700,000 of previous overspending.
Jeff applied for a communications grant, he again demonstrated his "abilities" and managed to screw this up as well, taking someone else's property, a radio tower, and installing it on different citizens property without the owners permission, and also without a building permit. That's right, a "public safety officer" ignoring building codes. See any trends developing here?
And during all these failed attempts at self promotion how were things going back at the station house?
Jeff received lots of awards and recognition from his trainee's, but he couldn't manage the effort necessary to lick a stamp so the city could get paid for services. Instead Jeff managed to dishonestly project larger and larger revenues for his department, revenues that were never possible to meet. He did this in an attempt to cover up his irresponsible spending and dereliction of duties as a department head.
Jeff's activities came to light, along with his confession during a council meeting to back dating employee time cards (the employee handbook says this offense is grounds for immediate termination)

My answer to the question of response times was to merely point out how ridiculously loaded that question was. Who in their right mind would want to wait any longer than necessary for emergency help if they were having an emergency. But you already knew that right? The five-alarmers put this question on the survey knowing that everyone would mark that they wanted a 5 minute response time. Now the council can say that they took a survey and it is unanimous that we need to charge the citizens more money for what they say they want.
You know exactly what my response meant. So Deb go back to your computer and send more vicious emails and spread more lies, it's what you do best.Get a life and try not to be so jealous of those who do.

But my first question would be how private all of the responses to the survey were? Who is telling up in City Hall? Or are we now running smear campaigns on the strength of what is written in this blog without first ascertaining if it is the truth?
Deb Lorang is exactly what my mother would have called a shit disturber. She has no sense of humor and uses a sense of outrage in place of one. I have heard members of her own family telling other people that with Deb (and Brad) that it is my way or the highway. Why this continual placement of the personal in the political just astounds me. The very chutzpah of the fact-ignoring is just amazing to watch. Because Janissary had the nerve to call it as he sees it in his blog, she ran around accusing everyone she disliked of being him. Quel democratic!
Now, because Deb is pissed off, heads shall roll!
These sort of tactics and bullying is why half the Port Commission is pissed off at Jeff Helfrich. He went around saying that the Port, the PORT had no business voting down the option renewal for the Warm Springs Tribe and that maybe they should be recalled and the City Council should step in. See what happens when someone gets the bit of power in between their teeth? Instead of earning their seats on the Council, and listening to what the citizens want, we have a batch of self-appointed, self-important, self-regulating blowhards running the town. Mark my words, people, they won't allow a general election in November.
