I am sorry for the quality of the video. I could barely see it on the video when I got home from the meeting. The upload made it worse. I am only as good as the signal I receive.
Also I have a big time surgery coming up. I find out the 7th of September what date it is going to happen. I will do my best to find and train someone, to fill in for me to capture the videos and learn everything needed to get them on the blog for you.
Besides the Mutual Aid. There's talk in the works to axe the Lockstender, also Chanel 23. KGW is going to be in town, Saturday at the Grade School. I hope the Dark side will show up. Natasha can stir up the crowd. She can take them outside. They should have a Dunk Tank for Council. Probably make alot of money.
Have'nt they cleaned up enough, City Cable and our town newspaper. That does'nt leave much left. Their pretty good actors. I think they like to shock the public.

Channel 23 is a mess for the Council meetings as the microphones either don't work, only work part of the time or the people do not sit close to them. So, why would people waste their money to pay for it? Hopefully, the new interim City Administrator will be able to start to set things straight & I wish him the very best. Some people welcome more coverage, they have been praying for some honest coverage for a couple of years now. There are a few in town though that know media coverage they can't control (like the HR News) is the last thing they want. Today, August 25, 2011, the City of Cascade Locks was notified that its Hood River County Defense Mutual Aid fire and emergency response partners in Hood River County unilaterally decided to terminate the Mutual Aid Agreement between Cascade Locks and five Hood River County Fire & EMS department and districts.
The City Council believes the reasons are purely political and stem from issues the City’s Fire Department is having with the Volunteer’s Association on the one hand, and Hood River County Defense Chiefs’ support of the Volunteers to the exclusion of the City’s Fire Department on the other. At no time has the Hood River County Defense Chiefs group, led by Jim Trammel of West Side Fire District, sought to assist Cascade Locks in resolving the issues between the City and the Volunteers.
Instead, the Hood River County Defense Group has chosen to meet only with the Volunteers and communicate the Volunteers’ demands to the City, threatening to revoke the Mutual Aid agreement if the City does not do as the Defense Group/Volunteers demand. The City has received similar unconstructive threats for over a month while it has struggled without a City Administrator.
The Hood River County Defense Group’s threats and demands on behalf of the Volunteers ignore the chain of command in the City and seek to usurp the City Council’s authority to manage its own Fire Department. Furthermore, the City feels strongly that the Volunteers have engaged in conduct that violates their ethical obligations and statutory duties as Volunteers, which will make it difficult for the City to recreate a viable Volunteer force.
The City has made no structural or organizational changes to its Fire Department since entering into the Mutual Aid agreements and believes, therefore, that termination of the agreements is unfounded, unwarranted, and jeopardizes the safety of not just Cascade Locks, but Hood River County and neighboring counties in both Oregon and Washington.
The City has been working closely with its legal counsel and insurance company to protect the City and its citizens during this crisis. Cascade Locks can and will seek to hold its Hood River County Mutual Aid partners liable to the fullest extent of the law in the event of an incident to which these partners do not respond and injury to people and or property results.
Next week, the Mayor of Cascade Locks will be meeting with representatives of the Special Districts Association of Oregon and the State Fire Chiefs Association as the City continues to seek ways to bring the parties together. The Mayor hopes that a neutral third party can assist in resolving the issues between the Fire Department and the Volunteers. As soon as time permits, the City will begin its search for a permanent Fire Chief, which may resolve issues with the Volunteers, but it will take time for the Hood River County Defense Group to mend its relationship with Cascade Locks.
There is no going back. On September 20th it will all end. A mayor who won with 5 votes can't win. So the real question is who will succeed and manage the city?
Brad Lorang while mayor of our fair city installed over a weekend, without permits, larger windows in the Chevron station, installed lights under the canopy at the Chevron station without permits. He is currently and consistently violating the sign ordinance for his business and is in violation of the ordinance code for inoperable vehicles at his residence. That's just off the top of my head. I would imagine if he were to be investigated there would be even more uncovered. The city under Willoughby's administration installed lights on the Bridge of the Gods to light up the mural without getting permits. I could go on and on but you should be getting the picture here. On the other hand Kevin Benson according to Larry Epstein actually applied for the permits a month before hauling in cabins (just like the ones at the Bridge of the Gods RV park). Now let's see, is the Bridge of the Gods RV park supposed to have long term monthly tenants? No. Not according to the land use laws. Rich Carson is acting like a spoiled child who was told he cannot have any more candy. He spews nothing but lies and these lies get printed in the paper along with the lies of Jim Trammell because they are all friends of Pricher and Kirby. Hood River News has abused the power of the press one too many times. I will never buy another paper from them. Even though Kirby has been reprimanded for printing lies he continues to print misinformation. It would appear that the publisher Joe Petshow doesn't give a damn about the town that he lives in or the reputation of the HRN. He continues to allow his paper to manipulate the people of Cascade Locks.
Hhhmmm if I were Hood River County and I was in the process of building a 6 million dollar fire hall and wanted more tax payers money what could I do? How about threaten a small community with losing their fire and ambulance protection? How about telling them that their insurance rates will go up or be cancelled if you don't join our fire district? And if that doesn't work how about having special meetings with their volunteers to pursuede them to not respond to calls? How about telling them to go behind the backs of the governing body and try to restructure the fire hall with out the city's input? And if they still won't pay us their tax dollars for our fire district we will just show those little Cascade Locksters who are always rebelling, we will cancel their mutual aid and put lives at risk until they agree that they can't stand on their own feet. They need Big Chief Trammell to save them from themselves. Then they'll just have to see it our way won't they? We will take their fire district money as we convince them to merge with us, it's the only way, right? They will even believe it was their idea. Then because they have all of the new equipment and new fire hall already and the city of Cascade Locks is already paying that bill with the General Fund money, Cascade Locks won't need any of the fire district funds. Hood River County will take it all just like they were going to do when they thought a casino might be coming in to town and there might be some money in it for them. This whole fiasco is not political, it's FINANCIAL! The root of all evil always comes down to money. Bend over Cascade Locks you all just got screwed by Hood River County. AGAIN! I have been listening to my scanner this afternoon. A call came into Cascade Locks Fire Dept. for an injury at one of the Falls. The victim is a 60 yr old female with broken shoulder. There was no reply. A second call came through & still no answer. I suppose that it now begins. The self important fire department volunteers are not answering any calls. That is just plain wrong, selfish & self indulgent. If it was your grandmother you may or may not get off your butt. This town deserves better than you people.

The changes Brad did were to the metal building support structure which required permits, as well as an architectural engineer to determine if it was a load bearing wall.

The COUNCIL told Carson to get rid of people. Carson did what he was told to do. Probably not wanting to do the Kings work.
Council did not tell Carson to get rid of anyone. Carson started work and dealt with the budget the entire time he was here. He got rid of NO ONE. You can't even state a name. Who am I talking to, a kid? Better go to bed before your parents find out that you are not in your bed. You should not listen to other people's gossip you should find out for yourself. Read minutes, watch meetings and ask questions.

When a person is ignorant to the facts they start putting people down and name calling and spreading rumors. Ever hear of a thing called "American History"? They teach it in schools everywhere and people learn from it in order to prevent making the same old mistakes. You know, like were made with the PAST COUNCIL! You call it slash and burn, the rest of the country call it cut backs and financial responsibility.
Can I ask why it is bad for Kevin Benson to allegedly not get a permit for his buildings and yet no one is mentioning that Jeff Pricher did not get a permit for a cellular tower? Wow! Good for goose and all that.
Kevin Benson did not get a county building permit or a city land use permit. Do a FOIA resqest on Larry Epstein's opinion and that of the city attorney. Kevin was given the opinion. The county building official was all over the city
for this illegal act. And Kevin did nothing. Talking about cell towers is just changing the subject to avoid the queston. Answer the first question and then we can talk about the second. Did the mayor and Kevin commit an illegal act? Is knowing the law and ingnoring it ethical for two elected officials? I don't think so. And you can't excuse this by changing the subject. You are part of the problem. You can never excuse illegal acts by electe goverment officials.
Then why are you all so willing to forget about Jeff and Bernard cooking the books or Brad doing the window and canopy work at the Chevron without a permit If as you say “You can never excuse illegal acts by electe goverment officials.”
IT ALL MATTERS
I have been listening to my scanner this afternoon. A call came into Cascade Locks Fire Dept. for an injury at one of the Falls. The victim is a 60 yr old female with broken shoulder. There was no reply. A second call came through & still no answer. I suppose that it now begins. The self important fire department volunteers are not answering any calls. That is just plain wrong, selfish & self indulgent. If it was your grandmother you may or may not get off your butt. This town deserves better than you people.
Wow, aren't we touchy? Speaking of changing the subject, the subject I introduced is how is it different?
How about because the cell tower information was entered into the record at the Council meeting? How about because it is holding up $38,000 we could to help fix the fire(d) department?
How about because the Hole-In-the-Fence Gang is using it as an excuse to cost us a lot of money staging a recall? When they have done the same shit themselves?
I didn't know Brad was an electrician. The Chevron is a commercial business hopefully no one is being put at risk with his shoddy electrical work.
Yeah, he may even cause a fire.
The changes Brad did were to the metal building support structure which required permits, as well as an architectural engineer to determine if it was a load bearing wall.
He did only metal work as the Chevron had someone else do any other remodeling. That would include any electrical as I have learned.
