This blog is a big tent political web portal site, seeking to have a forum where diverse viewpoints can be addressed, concerning the government of the City of Cascade Locks, Oregon.
This blog moderator monitors this site in accordance to Article 19 of the Universal Declaration on Human Rights, which states that "everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers." Written in 1948, the principle applies aptly to today's Internet, one of the most important means of free expression in the world.
Yet government censorship of the web is growing rapidly. From the outright blocking and filtering of sites, to court orders limiting access to information and legislation forcing companies to self-censor content.
So day in and day out I get all of these complaints and threats in my email and on the blog for me to censor this blog.
Do you see my dilemma?
Do I put aside my beliefs and censor this blog?
Do I stand on my beliefs and shut it down?
Or do I let it go as is and everyone can be responsible for their own actions?

To the gutless Newbie that felt compelled to direct anonymous, nasty comments at one of the Budget Committee members,
Welcome to Cascade Locks. Just what we need, another positive individual with constructive ideas for solving the difficult problems that we are now facing. Or could it be that you have really been here much longer than you state and were actually one of those that created our problems in the first place?
As they say, "Good fences make good neighbors."
We can only hope that you find our town is so full of "ugly ugly ugly, inside and out" type of folks that your stay here will be short.
But in the meantime, you might want to consider enrolling in our elementary school which has a great kindergarten teacher. She has a way of reaching those with learning problems and under her guidance you can no doubt even graduate this time around.
As they say, "A mind is a terrible thing to waste."

Who els finds it deliciously ironic that Rob Brostoff wants to donate $500 to a recall?
And if those three have so much money to burn - what's it cost $150 to file - why didn't they just donate to the Fire Dept. to begin with?
Once again people, did the City Council EVER say that they did not want to provide a professional fire department for our community? NO! A few people in the audience keep stating this, however this is just another assumption made by a very small group of people.
