The nature of the encroachment upon American constitution is such, as to grow every day more and more encroaching. Like a cancer; it eats faster and faster every hour. The revenue creates pensioners, and the pensioners urge for more revenue. The seekers more numerous and more corrupt, and every day increases the circles of their dependents and vanity, luxury, foppery, selfishness, meanness, and downright venality swallow up the whole of society. Once again, no Lance, no Eva. They can argue and fuss about what's being done at budget but they can't bother to show up and help, can they?
The Fire Department's impending bankruptcy isn't due to building the new station or because the old fire hall hasn't sold. The building project has never been part of the Fire Department's annual budget. The impending collapse of this department is the direct result of one person's greed. That person is Jeff Pricher.
Jeff's ego has destroyed in a few years what took decades to build. Not only has he alienated every neighboring emergency services agency, spent the department into insolvency , now he is pitting the volunteers (one of which he is most certainly not at over $100,000 a year) against the very people they swore to serve. The fact that Jeff is inciting these volunteers to threaten their brothers, sisters, parents, grandparents ect, ect, with letting them suffer and die in an emergency so he can continue to get paid is SICK.
The fact is Jeff can't last as chief much longer. Not because anyone is out to get him but because his own irresponsibility and unprofessional actions are starting to catch up with him.
You can only be a self absorbed ass for so long, even in Cascade Locks.
Electric had to pay it back so here goes water and streets.
That breaks the street department.
I see water but where is the sewer. Is this another mistake?
I thought this all happened in the previous budget year?
If I am reading this right she is going to Bernard to find out what she did with this money.
Did council authorize this?
Bernard ordered the doctoring of the emergency services books.
Is this some more of his doctoring skills?
Or do we have 2 doctors in the house?
Something needs to be done about this.
This stinks.

Congratulations Cody.
Tell Jenna I wish her and her new child all the happiness life has to offer.
I need to speak with you and lost your number.
I am only here through the holiday.
When you get home give me a call.
P.W.D.
Cody, Thanks for recording the meetings. It really helps a lot when reviewing the minutes from previous meetings or when someone misses a meeting. It makes it possible to stay on track as to what has happened and why. It is a great way to go back and review things that may have been missed during the meeting. If we had any money I would suggest the city compensate you for this service.
Thanks again, Darlene Sullenger
Agreed Darlene, but I have to wonder why the city does not post it.
Darlene -
If the City is short on money, how is it supposed to pay Cody?
If the City doesn't address the issue of the CATV being in the red then you won't have meetings to watch anymore - that is also a fund that hasn't paid for itself in some time. I say time for the City to get out of the TV business!
Kudos to our budget committee for their valiant attempt to bring some sense of fiscal responsibility to our City's budget in spite of a staff and council that were ill prepared to provide the facts and policy changes that would have supported their efforts.
After years of empire building and irresponsible borrowing on the part of puppet city councils controlled by Mr. Willoughby and Mr. Seeger the citizens of Cascade Locks are now faced with the unpleasant task of getting control of the purse strings. With only 30 days left to pass a budget the committee is faced with the almost impossible mission of sorting through a tangled mess of sloppy record keeping and questionable transactions. They may not be able to solve all the problems in one budget cycle, but whatever changes they manage to make will certainly be a welcomed improvement.
We can all hope that during the next year the City Council will make the needed policy decisions that will enable the next budget committee to finish the job started this year.
Anon. Obviously you need to go back and read my post, I said "if" the city had any money they should compensate Cody for his service.
CATV would do fine if the administration would not triple dip from their revenues. I will no longer respond to anonymous blogs, if you haven't got the guts to sign your name you are not worth the reply.

Just keep the hate flowing you all do a great job of that. Do Any of you have jobs?
Dear Oxymoron,
Get a job.
Hi Cody!
Thank you for posting this information. Could you explain for the layman what these documents mean, if you get some extra time? I would appreciate it.
Thank you!
This problem came up when the budget committee realized there was $50,000.00 unaccounted for in the emergency services fund.
The first document is an email from our City Auditor to our City Treasurer.
The second is a report from our City Treasurer to the Budget Committee.
What I make from this is our City Treasurer in looking for this money, when the budget committee wanted an accounting, contacted the Light Superintendent and former City Administrator and was told that the utility extensions for the Counties planned medical clinic was paid by the County and credited to the wrong funds after the emergency services department fund paid for all work done by the City to the City departments for the County in advance.
A detail of the funds and incorrect amounts is shown.
The Auditor went over his books and it appears to pencil out.
Now the Budget Committee has to deal with the losses in the funds that were paid twice to the wrong funds in the 2008/09 budget year.
Now I have many questions about these documents.
But in the end it is the duty of this budget committee and this council to question and deal with this matter.
Disclosing my comments at this time could hurt that process, so I will bite my tongue.
