I heard several areas where this city is in trouble financially. Correct me if I heard wrong but I am sure I heard Marianne say that the general fund was going to be short and in looking at the resolutions that were going to be voted on the one was going to use almost all of the contingency for two of the funds. So I wonder what is going on? Where has all of the $ gone?
That's the debt load that Don Haite keeps talking about. they borrowed around half a million from the fire dept and the water dept. and it still has got to be paid back.
no I think that the $450k was borrowed from the electric dept. and $24k was borrowed from the water dept. plus isnt there interest owed on the loans for the past two years
Why did George and Kevin go to Warm Springs in a city vehicle and refuse to take the new City Administrator? When was that trip discussed? Do they just get to travel on the city's dime whenever they want? I'd like to use the city's car too. How do I get the keys? Did anyone see this announced anywhere? Approved anywhere? Discussed anywhere? I'll need the credit card too but don't worry, the city needs to tighten its belt so I won't order lobster.
Nobody blocked the sale of the fire hall.The buyer backed out when he discovered that he could not use the single wide mobile home as a residential rental unit.
Morgan and Seeger tried to assure him that he could rent it as a residence, but the development code clearly prohibits single wides anywhere but in a mobile home park plus the downtown plan prohibits ground level residences.
The mobile home was placed there illegally under the direction of Mr. Willoughby.
Another example of our city officials trying to break the rules so they can make a buck.
Oh my gosh, were both George and Kevin able to make it back to CL okay? Ya know it's got to be much more difficult to drive yourself all the way to Warm Springs and back than to walk from one airplane to another in Houston, especially without professional (CA) assistance. I just hope they made to made to home.

Yeah, but when you don't submit the supporting paperwork and incur late fees, you lose that credit card then you get to blame someone else for your shortcoming.
I am still trying to figure out how billing 5 months late cannot be blamed on the Chief? Seems when I went to Providence for an emergency(no, I drove myself) I got billed within 2 weeks. A record it wouldn't hurt the Chief to emulate.
Just wondering Cody - could you start taping the Tourism Committee meetings? I would like to watch those too. Appreciate what U R doing, know it takes a lot of time.
Did anyone else get their invite to the unveiling of the slut and the mutt statues? April 13th at 3 pm. Come watch your money being wasted on yet another Port folly. And they are dedicating it to Queen Jean! The nerve of it all! Why don't they just do what they are supposed to? Bring in jobs. Jobs, jobs, jobs. Have they brought in any in the last ten years?
The "jobs, jobs, jobs, jobs" have been sent overseas because our national politicians believe in letting corporations pay 10 cents an hour to non-union labor in plants that have no environmental restrictions etc. - and then sell those goods in the United States with no tariffs.
Getting mad at local officials for that problem is like _____ing in the wind.
By the way, dissing a true American Heroine, a faithful dog companion, and lots of your neighbors is exactly what those corporations and national politicians want you to do. If you are mad at each other, you're distracted from putting your energies towards where they should be directed - a fair trade policy and re-establishing a middle class.
